Quick Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before reaching out — answered honestly by our team.

How far in advance should I book my Ghana trip?

expand_more

We recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks in advance for standard tours, and 8–12 weeks for December trips (Detty December). Festival season is extremely popular and accommodation fills up fast. That said, we can sometimes accommodate last-minute bookings — contact us and we'll do our best.

Do I need a visa to visit Ghana?

expand_more

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Ghana. However, citizens of ECOWAS member states can enter visa-free. Ghana also operates an e-visa system, which allows you to apply online before travelling. We're happy to guide you through the process as part of our pre-travel support.

Can you build a fully custom itinerary for my group?

expand_more

Absolutely — custom itineraries are one of our specialities. We work with solo travellers, couples, families, and large diaspora groups. Tell us your interests, your dates, and your budget, and we'll design something that fits perfectly. Just fill in the form above to get started.

What's included in your tour packages?

expand_more

Inclusions vary by package but typically cover private air-conditioned vehicle, expert local guide, entrance fees to attractions, and airport transfers. Meals and accommodation can be added. Visit our Tours page for full package details, or contact us for a custom quote.

Is Ghana safe for tourists?

expand_more

Ghana is widely regarded as one of the safest and most welcoming countries in West Africa. It has a stable democratic government, a strong tradition of hospitality, and a well-developed tourist infrastructure. As with any destination, standard travel precautions apply, and our guides will always brief you on what to keep in mind.

What is the best time of year to visit Ghana?

expand_more

October through March offers the most comfortable conditions — drier weather, lower humidity, and cooler evenings. December is extraordinary for the Detty December cultural season. April through September sees heavier rains in the south, but the north is beautiful during this period and the country is far less crowded.

Do you offer airport pickup and drop-off?

expand_more

Yes — our airport transfer service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We'll have a RATAVIC representative waiting for you at Kotoka International Airport with your name on a board. All vehicles are clean, air-conditioned, and driven by vetted professional drivers.

What currency is used in Ghana and can I pay by card?

expand_more

Ghana's currency is the Ghanaian Cedi (GHS). Major hotels, restaurants, and tourist sites accept Visa and Mastercard. However, cash is essential for markets, street food, and smaller vendors. ATMs are widely available in Accra and other major cities. We recommend bringing USD or GBP to exchange locally for the best rates.
